The idea of application is very simple. It emulates wireless browser and make calls to https://fl.vzw.com/ to send location request and extracts coordinates from returned web page. Result is displayed on Google Maps (street or satellite view).

You have to have active Family Locator service with Verizon to be able to use it.

You can post you comments and suggestions here for future improvements.

Note: This is not official Verizon application for Family Locator.

The application was suspended on market without any notice. I'm trying to find out what happened.

I wonder if  Verizon asked Google to suspend or it is something else. Similar applications for ATT and Sprint are still active.

I had to rename my application to remove word Verizon from its title.

New name is" Family Locator (V)"

I think that was the reason why it was suspended on the market. I had similar issue with AT&T version but at least I received a letter from AT&T lawyer about infringement of their trademarks.  Nothing so far from Verizon but I assume it was the same reason.

Just downloaded this app - it is incredible! I used to access Family locator from my Droid browser and it took so long to navigate and sign in. It didn't work half the time - but this works beautifully! Worth EVERY penny!!! Thanks for develping this!

My app worked, was greate for 24 hours now it does not work.  Tells me that it is an invalid login.  I use the same info at fl.vzw.com and it works.

Just paid for this on two phones and 1 day later it does not work.  Was getting communication errors so i decided to redo my login information and that was it...

Google Latitude does the same thing for free.  And you don't have to pay extra for Verizon's Locator service.  It works by GPS and shows your list of phones on the map.

Verizon has updated web application and  my application needed update. I posted new version on Android Market next day. But few days ago my developer's account was suspended by Google. I suspect it is because of legal problems with AT&T for a similar application.

For those who did not download update before it disappeared you can get it from there:

I had the login problem.  So, unfortunately, prior to reading this, I thought I would delete the app, then reinstall it.  So I deleted; but, of course, now the app is not available in the market.  I found your files for the upgrade, but too late for me because I already deleted the original app in order to upgrade.

How can I get the whole, updated app?

thanks!
