what do you mean by "can't get it to work"??? does it force close? does it not open? or will it not play content because it's an awful? you have to have one of only three cable providers in order to watch content on it. brighthouse, turner cable, or verizon fios (i think those are the 3) are the only providers that allow use of the app. if you have one of these, you have to put your account info in the app to verify it. if you don't (i have cox so i can't use it), then the app is useless.
