battery drain

Does  anyone have a solution to the excessive battery drain on phone even when no phone calls are made.It seems like there is alot of programs running or etc.

Try to do hard reset to clear out any old settings.
Resetting the phone deletes all data, including downloaded applications, and resets the phone back to its initial state—the state before you turned on the phone for the first time.
Important: Make sure to back up important data you have on the phone before you reset your phone.
To reset the phone
1. Press HOME > MENU, then tap Settings > Security > Factory data
reset.
2. On the Factory data reset screen, tap Reset phone and then tap
Erase everything.
To reset the phone using phone buttons
1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN
and SEND buttons
2. Press the END/POWER button. You will see a screen with 3
Android images at the bottom of the screen.
3. Follow the instructions onscreen to reset your phone.
Tip If your phone hangs or freezes, remove the battery then wait for a few
seconds, and then re-install it. After re-installing the battery, turn on the
phone.

I don't have my android phone with me right now   But I am able to see which apps are running in the background or use the most battery. I can see which apps use the most battery by going to settings & i think in the apps section it says "battery- see which apps are running".   Or I just go into manage apps-->menu-->filter apps-->Running

or get an app killer. i use Advanced Task Killer. I love it. you'll here mixed messages as far as app killers go (many people that really know what they're doing, don't recommend them). 2 touches to the screen and all the junk running in the background is closed. i prolly do this 10-15 times/day. you'll need to tag a few things to "ignore" though, when you kill all apps because some processes may affect others....or if you use an app as your clock (instead of the preinstalled clock) and you kill it, your alarm may not go off in the morning? i really don't know much about this stuff, but it has seemed to improve my battery. also, go to settings....phone info....battery. you can get details (up time, awake time, and what has used the battery life). i've seen a lot of people with issues where the up and awake time is the same. if that's the case, you may have problems. i WOULD NOT suggest trying a hard reset as your first option. if you've had the phone for a while and have customized it...you'll lose everything. it's a last resort type of attempt in my opinion. what type of phone is it?

I am a bit curious about app killers. I know my incredible is going to suck the bejesus outta the stock battery. Especially when I first get it. Ill probably be playing with it until it dies the first time at least. So any suggestions on what the best way to conserve a bit of battery life? App killer is probably one I will for sure look into.

an app killer (some say they do more harm than good....but you just have to make an "ignore" list.....a list of processes that you don't want to kill when you select kill all) has helped me. you can also change all kinds of settings. low screen display, adjust what and when the touch screen vibrates (i have to have it vibrate as i'm new to a complete touchscreen phone....but it seems like when you get better/more comfortable, you could turn off vibrate when touch....vibrate KILLS batteries). short times before things automatically shut off, etc. i was disappointed at first.....but now that i've had the phone for a couple weeks, i can EASILY get more than 24 hours off a charge. i'm content with that, considering everything the phone does and how often i play with it throughout the day. i also ordered 2 extra batteries on ebay (came with wall charger) for $12 total. i've seen that you shouldn't buy cheap batteries, but i have in the past (camcorder, old phone) and they've always performed just like the one that came with the device.
