4g lte not available using too much battery

I live in a rural area where there is no 4g network.  The vs840 lucid lg smart phone apparently keeps looking for 4g and uses up the battery charge at an extremely high rate and unacceptable level.  I was told to download a LTE switch but that is not available from either Verizon or from the lucid lg phone support.  Where is a dependable fix for this phone to manually change from 4g to 3g?

That is why your phone is consuming the Battery because it trying to stay connected you may have to get an App threw the Google PlayStore that forces the phone to stay on 3G or get a Mobile Extender From Verizon to see if Can Acquire the 4G if you have way to use a Router you could use that to Do all of your Data Stuff through it Wi-Fi you might try that.. b33

@melibra,

I know you want to get the most out of your battery so you can enjoy your phone longer. As B33 mentioned the fluctuating between 3G and 4G may be the reason why your battery is draining sooner.

Unfortunately, with the latest software update there is no longer an option to switch the phone to 3G only. Have you considered a network extender to boost the signal inside your home http://bit.ly/AKkC?

Unless they have updated the Extender it will only give him 1x and EVDO no 4G/LTE.  The link below only shows 1X/EVDO no 4G/LTE.  It does not sound as though it would help his problem with his phone always searching for 4G/LTE.  I think his best bet is your other suggestion at the app store so he can turn off 4G and stay on 3G.  The Extender would make 3G stronger but the phone would still search for a 4G signal.
