Android 5.0 Lollipop is going to take ~90 days for Verizon to roll out???

After speaking to a support representative about my LG G3, I was told it will take about 90 days to update the core software of Lollipop so it works with Verizon LTE, voicemail, some other verizon-specific functions, and so they can upload craplets. I have a few questions about this:

  1. Why, Verizon, would you really want to force an operating system to keep certain apps that the customer does not need or want? And why is it that a customer is only allowed to disable craplets instead of purging them from the phone entirely?
  2. What exactly takes 90 days here? Manufactures at least have an excuse because they must take software from one source and test it with their custom hardware. Verizon is simply tailoring the OS to their data services and basic functions. The fact that this hasn't gotten down to a shorter time period with an open-source operating system like Android is appalling. Even quality assurance for comprehensive software doesn't take that long.

What's the deal, Verizon?

Disregard anything a Verizon rep tells you about updates as they do not know and are giving you an answer out of thin air unless the manufacturer has already released it.  Check the manufacturers link for information on when they will release it and then Verizon is usually a week or two behind them.

Lollipop 5.0 is not ready for Big Red as they are still debugging it in it's basic version.

Yet again Carriers add nothing to the Code. LG does it for them per request. Does your phone not work right now? Why exactly do you Need 5.0?

I always view this LG vs Vzw update game as ...the verizon software will still get onto the phone whether the manufacturer does it for Verizon or even if Verizon does it themselves.  To me, doesn't matter if LG is testing it for Verizon or if Verizon is testing it themselves.  It'll come out eventually and you're right...if the phone works that is all that is to be expected from the phone.  If the service works, that is what is to be expected of Verizon.  5.0 isn't going to transform any phone, flagship or budget into a super beast of a handset.  IDK though, maybe Lollipop will make my G2 as good as a G4.

Its not that my phone needs the Lollipop update to function better. As a developer, I'd like to test apps on my everyday phone before I roll them out.
