I'm glad I read this.  I am having the same issues since the last install.  Please find a solution asap.  I hardly used my phone and by 10:00 this morning and I was already down to 65%. It's 5pm now and my phone just died.  I used to go two days before having to charge my phone.  The awesome battery was part of the reason I bought it.  In addition, my screens are freezing up.  Text messaging is locking up, I'll type and nothing happens.  The phone automatically resets itself to the password screen to get back in again. Incredibly disapointed with the last install and loved my phone before, I raved about it to all that asked.  Right now I wouldn't advise the purchase.

My Galaxy S3 started working much better a few weeks ago.  I assume that Verizon released some sort of update.

My phone just started this issue today. Will not charge. Charger incompatible issue. Sigh. it was working fine. Why upgrade my phone and cause it to fail?

jcoon,

Thanks for contacting us.  We know how important battery life can be these days.  It sounds like something on your phone may not be agreeing with the software update.  I would test the device in safe mode for a bit and see if there's any improvement; http://vz.to/1B5LU1C .

You may eventually need to attempt a hard reset as well; http://vz.to/1yGhlN2

Let us know if it improves!

I have this issue too!  S5 fine until update the other night.  Now battery drains fast and phone gets hot.  "Android system" always at the top of battery usage.  I have Google+ disabled so I can't blame that guy.

How can I get back to the old software until this issue gets worked out?  Clearly a number of people are having it.

Thanks

I definitely want to get this fixed for you as well! Did you test your phone in Safe Mode http://vz.to/1tTEBta ? Did you see any difference in your draining? If you did not see a difference, can you try the Hard Reset http://vz.to/1tTENZl and let us know if you see a difference there. I would recommend backing up your information before processing the Hard Reset. Verizon Cloud is a great way to do this http://vz.to/1qxj1HQ

I am in the same situation as jcoon - I loved my phone until this latest install - now my calendar won't update, emails take forever to load, the battery is draining much faster (and I am using the phone less than I was before.)

Verizon Wireless Admin This needs to be fixed - the answer can't be for all of us to do a hard factory reset - that is completely unacceptable.

So, I tried safe mode.  Phone was still getting hot.  Was going on a business trip so had to exercise the nuclear option, the hard reset.  Have made it a day and a half without issues since then.  Hope it continues.
