Can I buy a Google Nexus 6 from Google and activate on my Verizon account, and keep my current cell number?

You can take your current SIM and place it in the Nexus 6 to activate.  If the SIM is not the same size, you can get an adapter for it.  Then get a SIM that does fit it later from Verizon free after you activate the N6 on your line.
