When my new phone arrives can I swap SD cards? Use my current card and send back the new one with the defective phone?

You can, but keep this is mind
If you encrypted the card decrypt it first before switching. If you send your other device in before doing that then you will lose your data as you can't decrypt it. You will have to format the card at that point.
Also even if you move apps to the SD card prior it will not work and would have to be deleted anyway. This is a DRM issue and not a device issue.

wolfy,
Help is here! Making sure that your warranty replacement phone activation runs smoothly is key. The replacement phone will not have an SD card in it. We truly appreciate the tips from naansalad & Tidbits. You will be able to power down the defective phone, remove the SD card & put it into the replacement phone before you power that one up. If you do have any other questions, please let us know.

Were you referring to the SD card or the SIM card? Just making sure as a replacement device isn't going to be shipped with a memory card (my understanding). If your referring to the SIM card yes just insert your SIM into the replacement phone. If your referring to the memory card no doubt move it to your new device. As Tidbits mentioned make sure if you did encrypt the memory card to undo that before moving to the replacement device.
