Can I test-drive a Droid?

Hello,

I have an iphone 3g and I am 2 months away from FINALLY seeing the end of my AT&T contract.

I really like the functionality of the iphone and I wouldn't consider switching, if only the AT&T covereage and customer service didnt, quite frankly, blow chunks. I've heard friends say that their i4's have better service but I'd really like to find another option first.

My boyfriend has the droid HTC and loves it but I'm a little bit skepical about the difference in functionality between the iphone and the droid. I'm someone who lives by their smartphone-- I use it for everything from work to travel to shopping to music, etc etc. I'm also concerened about losing 2 years woth of apps and having to re-purchase everyhting and look for comparables, so before I commit to another contract I want to make sure I'm picking the right one.

Does anyone know of a place that will allow you to take a Droid for a test-run for a few days, with or without a fee?

Thanks!

You have 30 days to decide if you like the device. If you dont, threre will be a $35 restocking fee and any fees for data, calls and messaging.

If returned within 3 days of activation, the $35 restocking fee is waived.

Considering everything involved, $35 is cheap to test-drive this phone for 30 days.

And I've been living and dying (mostly living, thankfully) by smartphones for years...Motos, iPhones, WM 6.5 (nearly dying there), etc. I've kept the Droid X for longer than any phone I've ever had, including the iPhone. And my girlfriend of 10 went with an X this week. She used it and said "where have you been all my life?". (ahem) so I think she likes it.

I don't use mine for music as I can't stand to listen to compressed music, so I have 3 iPods full of WAV files for that. But I use the phone for nearly everything else, including web-surfing.

And keep this in mind...(long sigh)...the iPhone might be on Verizon by the time your contact is up. So your choices are wide and varied at this moment.

As for me, unless they put a 4G radio in new Droid Xs they can keep it. A phone is gonna have to go a long way to make me give up my Droid X.

Period.

i have the htc and love it. i also like the X. the htc has more of an iphone feel (size and screen size). there will be a learning curve, as there will be when switching from any device to a different one. however, everyone that i know that made the switch stuck with it. there are comparable apps for nearly every iphone app that exists and since android is now the number one operating system being bought, i suspect that there will eventually be more droid apps than iphone apps. try one for the 30 days (or even 3 days if you don't want to pay the $35 restock fee) and decide. i would highly recommend an X or an htc incredible. i'm just not a fan of the lower end droids or the samsungs. htc is smaller and i like the htc sense ui, but the X has hdmi out so it's much better if you use your device to stream audio or video to tv's or stereos. or you can wait a week and see what is announced, as far as what's coming soon. i believe there is supposed to be an htc that is similar to sprint's EVO (which is VERY nice) coming to verizon?

I have to agree with what AZSALUKI. We both have had the Incredible since it came out. I used to drool at the new devices coming out waiting for my contract to expire. It has been 8 months and I am still very happy with my device.I believe it has to do with the ability to add new programs and change the look of the device for me. The phone is new to me with every new app that makes my life easier.

At this point even LTE is not intriguing to me. So I will have this phone for a long while.
