Can't connect my LG lucid to computer

Have a LG vs840 and am unable to have computer recognize phone.   Running windows 7.  Downloaded drivers  (LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN36AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.6)   Phone charges from computer but unable to get to SD Card.  

Settings on phone:   USB settings;  Mass Storage. 

Has someone broken the code and knows the secret.  If so, please share.

turning on Mass Storage works for me.
