Copy of all childs text to parent phone?

I have a Droid Ultra.  My son is using a Samsung Brightside.  I would love for a copy of his texts to automatically come through to my phone.  I have heard this is possible. Is this correct?  If so, how would I accomplish this? Or will he have to have a smart phone to do so?
