Do Not Download Lollipop Update!!! Full of bugs!!!

Do not download the lollipop update.  The update was rolled out full of bugs and my phone is almost useless now and I cant reach customer support due to their hours.  The error message "Unfortunately, com.sec.imsservice has stopped"  will come up every couple seconds on your phone and lock it up frequently. I tried resetting to factory defaults with out success.  This update obviously wasn't tested properly prior to roll out and the customer is paying for it!!!!

I absolutely love the Lollipop upgrade.  It seriously makes my phone so much better.  I have had no problems with it at all.  Have you check your apps to make sure nothing got keplunked during the update process?

I am liking the lollipop update too, have had no problems so far. The only thing I am seeing is the battery is draining but I may have some apps that need to be shut down, I will check and see what I can do but loving the update!!

If you enable the developer menu you can set the limit of background processes.  Just a suggestion of course.

A lot of folks try resetting the phone to factory without first unchecking the box in backup and restore that restores their apps and app settings.  This should be unchecked first.  The error is due to an app incompatibility with Facebook and FB Messenger and some 3rd party launchers at fault.  Possibly others.  Resetting and restoring apps and their settings pretty much means people just restore themselves right back to where they were.

Snn5: Your previous suggestion in another thread about a document laying out a number of items to take care of prior to accepting the OTA is a good one. Verizon could be helping people out a lot by providing this information. Instead, some of these users just come upon the update, choose "install now" and roll the dice.

This is one of the apps Verizon uses to "remotely diagnose" your smartphone

I didnt notice this in 4.4.2.  Im sure it was there, but a different name.

I agree with you.  But perhaps we should specify which phone is having the big problem with this most recent update.  Perhaps some phones are working fine with this new Android update.  I'm having the exact same problem and I have a Note 4.  We spend too much money on these devices to have to deal with these issues that affect productivity.  My phone has been rendered useless and unfortunately, I have come to rely on it for much of my business due to my heavy travel.  According to Samsung, they believe it's related to one or more of the pre-installed apps that Verizon has added to the phone... as well as any tweaks that Verizon may have made to the device after it left the Samsung factory but before it was sold to the customer.  Although the local store reset my phone (and temporarily fixed the problem), they couldn't roll back the Android operating system... so as soon as the pre-installed apps began their updates, the incompatibility issue returned and caused my phone to become useless again.  Because of an issue I had with Verizon when I upgraded to this phone... and now because of this issue... I will most likely be leaving Verizon as a customer (since 1999) very soon!

I found the following "fix" on another forum and it appears to have temporarily fixed this issue for now.  Hopefully it will stay fixed.

I had the same problem. To fix it simply go to Settings > Applications > Application Manager > All Applications and then clearing the caches first for Contacts and then com.sec.imsservice. I found it much easier to do by first booting the phone in Safe Mode. This will keep you from continuously being interrupted from the alert message. To boot in Safe Mode turn the phone off, then turn the phone back on. When the Samsung logo appears during the booting process, hold the volume down button until the phone boots up. You should notice Safe Mode at the bottom of the screen. When your done, restart your phone to exit Safe Mode.
