Does Verizon automatically turn off Data between Midnight and 7 am??

It seems that both Smartphones I have in the house, one is my Wife's, the data automatically turns off at midnight each night, then turns itself back on a 7am each morning.

We have had our phones for three weeks now, and we both have noticed this. If we are up and we check our phones after midnight, there is a message saying, "Data Time Restriction Set". I can not seem to find a setting to take this off.

Is this something that Verizon automatically does each night?

Both our phones are the Pantech Maurader running ICS 4.03.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jim

Found it!  It's on page 153 of your manual:

Setting Data restrict time

1 Tap Apps from the Home Screen and tap Settings > More....

2 Tap Mobile networks > Data restrict time.

3 Tap Set data restrict time. It is selected by default. You cannot use

data during the time.

4 Tap Start time, adjust time and tap Set.

5 Tap End time, adjust time and tap Set.

If you don't have a copy of your manual:

Verizon wouldn't do that. Otherwise people in different time zones would be posting the same thing at different hours. Call about that restriction, back up and reset your phones. If that fails, take them back, in CA you have 30 days.

Thank you for the response. I did call Customer Service, and they basically told me that sometimes the data is down between those hours for maintenance and that there is nothing wrong with my phones.

Sometimes finding a solution with Customer Service is frustrating.

You know what, these Smartphones are making me go crazy. Once this contract ends I am going back to a basic talk phone.

If basic phones are still around.

You may want to check the rules in your Smart Actions.  Sounds like you may have a setting for battery extender that's causing your data to not be available during certain hours.

Don't let the phone win!  There is a learning curve with smartphones.  There's lots of info. on this forum; sometimes a search for threads will reveal that others are having the same issue and answers are already provided.

Good luck!

I tried going into my settings, but can not find an option to restrict data time. All I see is power saving settings.

Well I guess it's no big deal. I am sleeping during that time anyway.

Thanks,

Jim

Not great when tikibar can find the answer in the manual!  It sounds like you spoke to a rep who didn't know the answer, didn't want to look it up, and came up with the first explanation that he/she could think of.  "Umm, yes, data is sometimes down for maintenance.  7 hours per day!"
