Does this make BUSINESS SENSE?

I would like to upgrade to the Galaxy Note 2 and found that I can get it for $199 from Amazon Wireless with a 2 year contract with Verizon. But if I want to UPGRADE to that phone with Verizon, I will have to pay $299.99 PLUS a $30 UPGRADE fee.... Does it make sense to ANYONE that VERIZON would PROMOTE someone to CANCEL their account, only to go somewhere else and SIGN UP again????

You are going to get the $30 upgrade fee no matter where you get your Verizon phone from. And you can not cancel you Verizon account and just sign up for another one. And why would you even do that? If you want to use your upgrade at Amazon then do it. You don't have to use your upgrade at the Verizon website or Verizon store. I'm not getting your issue.

Like I said, it COSTS $299 to UPGRADE plus a $30 UPGRADE FEE, but only costs $199 for a NEW CUSTOMER! To SUM it up it COSTS over $100 MORE to STAY a customer vs. Cancelling and becoming a NEW Customer.....

When you cancel, you can't sign up again for 50 days (it'll be treated as a reactivation of your existing service if you try to).

You'll also be billed through the end of your current bill cycle, *and* lose your phone number, *and* be charged an Early Termination Fee if you're still under contract (upgrades are given 4 months before your actual contract end date: beware!).

New customers are charged a $35 activation fee on their first month's bill.

The lower price is to lure new customers.  My cable company does it all the time.

How many storefronts, sales reps, tech reps, brick and mortar buildings does Amazon have that they need to pay for???? Ohhh that is right, ZERO.

That is why there is a pricing difference with Amazon, Wirefly and such. Feel free to get one from Amazon, but as stated above, you can not simply cancel and two days later come back as a new subscriber.

Mine too. Then the current customers gripe when their promo price ends and the cable company won't extend it. Then they come up with the same excuse of how unfair it is to give new customers a discount but not "loyal" current ones. When THEY were the new customer getting the discount was ok. funny how that works. Then they threaten to leave, lawsuit etc etc just like here. They never leave, they just keep posting rants about how the big evil cable company is ripping them off.

This is VERY true, but if you call them on it and your contract is OVER. They will give you the same DEAL. Usually...
