I got a notification for an upgrade this AM when I awoke to my phone. I upgraded, and nothing seems different. I was hopeful that this was the jump to 2.1, but the firmware remains at 1.5. Anyone else get this upgrade notice?
The other thing notable was the device seemed to hang on the HTC logo for a bit. Anyone else experience this? So far, phone feels no different from prior.
thanks -

Same here. Didn't actually hang on the HTC logo, but it did take a while to boot past that screen. The phone feels a little snappier. Or could it be that we're thawing out a little bit? And they didn't fix the goofy character counter in the text entry box in Messaging. It still covers up the last few characters on the first line of text. Harrumph.

It was only a minor software update/revision. When my device completed the update, it sent text messages to numerous people in my contacts. Has anyone else experienced this issue with the Eris?

Not unless someone posts the update online, which probably wont happen. I'm sure your wifes will get the notification soon, just hang tight.

NOT SOLVED. The touch input on my Eris hung or crashed as described in many forums the day before the update came out. The update was loaded successfully last night (1/11/2010). This morning it hung again about the same way it did two days ago, though with one slight difference. As I slid the unlock bar down, it moved about 1/4" and then stopped. I could see the notification bar and the top portion of the home screen. I slid it back up starting from the bottom edge of the visible home screen (which worked), but after that it would not respond to touch on the unlock bar again.
I was listening to Pandora on 3G at the time. There were probably some other apps running in the background, but I don't know which ones.
It's still broken.

I'm sorry to say that this hasn't been solved for everyone - definitely not for me. I had that update but my phone continues to 'freeze up' constantly.
It doesn't only happen during certain activities or while using certain applications, it's fairly equal across the board.
I'm pretty tired of needing to remove my battery & reboot the thing a few times a week.... any ideas when an actual fix (that works for everyone) will be available??
