Fixing incorrectly merged contacts!!

How do I fix the accidentally merged contacts throughout all my google accounts and my phone and the cloud, etc?? Very annoying how there are hundreds of duplicates and contacts merged with wrong phone numbers...what do I do to fix this problem which seems to be a universal Droid problem others are having too??

My suggestions:

Stick to backing up contacts only via Google (I dislike duplicates myself)
Go go contacts.google.com
Upper left corner click on Find Duplicates

I've never had the issue with mine merging between Google and VZ Cloud but I've seen it happen.
