Galaxy J3 falsely advertised

The Galaxy J3 listed here advertises the following:

1500 photos or 750 songs²...even more with expandable memory

Enjoy a myriad of your favorite music, photos and more with the Galaxy J3 (2016), thanks to the smartphone’s 8 GB² of internal memory. Want even more? You can expand the memory by an additional 128 GB with a microSD™ card³ for even more enjoyment for when you’re on the go.

²Based on 2MB per picture or 4MB per song.

When you add that up that is 3000 MB of advertised storage. However on a clean factory reset of this phone with no updates there is less than 1200 MB of space available. As soon as you install all updates you have 960 MB of internal storage left. That is without installing any applications!

Moving the applications to the SD Card is not possible due to the fact that they are "System Apps" and even moving newly installed apps to the

Devices have a certain amount of space partitioned for Apps and media. You can't store apps in the media portion and vice versa. However, you are working with an 8GB storage capacity. That is really not a lot. Should you have questions (or complaints) about the specs, they should be directed at Samsung as it Samsung that made the device.

it said i was not allowed to edit my post so here is the rest.

SD Card still fills up the internal storage.

This phone is unusable and Installing new apps is impossible due to it saying insufficient storage. After a few more google updates it wont be able to update at all, because each update uses more space.

Cleaning cache only frees about 300 MB of internal storage and if you don't clean it sometimes you cant update because the phone has already ran out of space. Also it takes about a day for that to fill back up.

In other words out of 8 GB of phone space we are told we get 3 GB and really get 0.5 GB of internal storage space. Assuming you install nothing.

Can we get our space you advertised, or was it bait and switch?

As an interesting side note. It is impossible to post a review on the Verizon store page for this device, when you press the "Be the first to review this product" button it puts you in a redirect loop forever.

It absolutely is not falsely advertised. The phone does indeed come with 8GB of on board storage. However, you seem to ignore the superscript next to that value.

With 8GB¹ of built-in memory, you can store more than 1500 photos or 750 songs² directly on your device. Get up to an additional 128GB of memory with a microSD™ card³ so you can enjoy more of your favorite music, photos and games on the go.

¹Portion of memory occupied by existing content.

²Based on 2MB per picture or 4MB per song.

Xyvis i didn't ignore the subscript, you just cant read. as i stated the real storage based on that superscript is 3GB of space for pictures or music. my complaint is there is not even that 3GB available. to quote the FIRST LINE OF MY TOP POST UNDER THE SUBSCRIPT! "When you add that up that is 3000 MB of advertised storage. "

@vzw_customer_support the link you gave is the product page for postpaid, the product page for prepaid is bugged not allowing reviews. that link in case you don't see it there in my original post is Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) Prepaid | Verizon Wireless

also yes i purchased this device 40 days ago. based on this experience it will likely be my last Verizon device and ill just go back to sprint or t-mobile.

I did my research, and as an android developer i am very familiar with these devices and their technical specifications.

As an android developer, you know exactly how much space the core Android OS takes and should have known better to not get such a low end device.

And you STILL purchased the device knowing the shortfalls of this device??? Or you did your research AFTER you made the purchase?

There has to be an error on that page for the prepaid phone. The footnotes don't have all items that they are referencing. Footnote #2 is used twice and footnote #1 isn't used at all. I would guess the footnote call out next to the 8 GB should be #1 instead #2 and this would line up with the same information from the postpaid version of phone.
