Had the reboot and touch screen issues for weeks. Finally managed to get the Repair Assistant to work and reset my SG4 using it. Rock solid since then (been 3-4 wks). Notified on my phone this AM about the SW update - and I'm hesitant to do the update, for obvious reasons. Has anyone done the update/fix and did it resolve your issues? For those who managed to reset their phones and get them working - did the latest "fix" cause any problems?
Gonna monitor things for a while before I install latest SW. Once bitten........

I installed the update from NG6 to NK1 and I have not had a single
self-reboot since then two days ago. It seems that they just decided to use
S4 users as their Guinea pigs to test out the NG6 update... That seems to
be the trend this year... Push crap out fast, wait for complaints to pile
up from the customers, and maybe update/patch the issues later...
What sucks about this whole thing is nearly Samsung nor Verizon would take
the blame and my S4 warranty was two months out when these problems started
so I had to pay $99 for a replacement when it turned out the NG6 update was
the problem all along...
Lesson learned? These companies are swindling bastards and you'd do well
never to update until you know it's safe to do so, hearing it from real
people, like you did here.
TL; DR? Yes, the NK1 update fixes the S4 reseting itself malfunction that
was introduced with the NG6 update.

Why don't you call VZW and tell them you'd appreciate a $99 credit to offset the replacement which didn't correct the problem, and wasn't necessary?

14 days have passed since I ordered the replacement. Besides, we're
talking about Version here. Both Samsung and they wouldn't even consider
that the phone was acting up because it just was, since at the time, no one
else was having the same problems allegedly. Especially since my warranty
had run up a month before I first inquired about the problem, why would
they give me my money back when I had to lie and admit that the phone
breaking was my fault in order to file a claim for a replacement through
Asurion? I had a busted phone for a month, and the only way to get it
fixed was for me to buy something else, pay Samsung to "repair" it, or say
I broke it so Asurion would give me a replacement.
It was ridiculous, but those were the only choices given to me at the
time... If someone from Verizon reads this and wants to check in on my
account for me to right the wrong, that'd be cool and very surprising, but
otherwise, I'm not going to waste another minute on the line with the
mafia.

I wish them good luck with that! I just got off the phone with a rude VZW representative who said "oh no, we wont be issuing credit for that issue."

Call them and if you don't reach a resolution, type a complaint letter.

I just got the Galaxy s4. It began rebooting randomly after the update. No third-party apps on it. This is not VERIZONS FAULT. SAMSUNG IS AT FAULT. END OF DISCUSSION.
