Google Calendar reminder time changes not syncing to phone

I posted this a few weeks ago and got 0 responses. I hope it's not poor etiquette to post it one more time. If I'm really the only one experiencing this, I promise not to post it again.

When I edit an event in Google Calendar and make no change to it other than the time when the reminder is to occur (changing, say, from 4 hours to 1 hour), the change is not synced to my Android phone. Other types of edits are synced, but not these. I don't remember this happening when I first got the phone.

This is a very common edit to make (for me at least), and I need to know whether I can expect it to work or not. I've missed at least one important appointment because the changed reminder time was not synced to my phone. Thanks for any help that anyone can give. Maybe this is just a well-known bug/feature, but even if so I'd like to be aware of it.

I don't change calendar times very often (if I do, it's from my phone) and can't say how common an issue this is, but for lack of a better suggestion, is auto-sync turned on (and more specifically, your calendar sync) as well as background data?  I know sometimes it takes a while before the phone will sync with Google's servers, but if you are still having this issue after a week, that's probably not the issue.

Do you have all your passwords entered on the phone so it can sync with your calendar?

On the phones calandar service do you have the google calendar box cheked and the phone calendar unchecked?

If you are using the two step sign in process from google, the task list used the generated password, not the accout password.

Just a few things that I can think of off the top of my head.

One more thing, make sure that in the settings the calendar is not set to sync over wi-fi only or some other goofy setting.  You can also tell it how often to sync.  When you hit the sync button, does it sync then?

Thanks, demmo and Kelly. I double checked, and all the sync settings are correct. That's the puzzling thing about this: the online calendar does sync correctly with the phone in every respect, except that changes to the reminder time alone do not sync. I just tested it again, and this continues to be the case. It's strange that no one else sees this (but then, whenever I contact computer tech support, they always tell me that I'm the only one reporting a particular problem!).

I suspect that the problem lies with the phone, not with Google, either an issue with the Android 2.3 OS, or with the Samsung Stratosphere's implementation of it, or with the default calendar app. Somehow a sync that includes only a change in reminder time is not being processed on the phone. Therefore I'm going to go to the Samsung Web site and make a tech-support request there.

What I've taken to doing is, whenever I need to change an alert time, I either do it on the phone, or if I do it on the computer I make some meaningless change to the title or description or something. This will trigger the proper sync with the phone.

Hi Dave-

I have been having calendar synch issues as well. I was wondering if you double checked your settings in your calendar app. Check & see what is checked under your "apply settings to" is. You might have to change if from "all calendars" & choose your google calendar.

I think my issue stems from having a hotmail address as my active synch account (since you can only have 1 for active synch) but also using 2 google calendars. Needless to say I have a royal mess & don't know how to fix it! Best wishes to you fixing your problem. I know about the frustration...

By the way, if you don't receive a response to a question, definitely post again! Probably as the questions age, they are less likely to be viewed. Someone might come across your new post when they possibly wouldn't see your older post.

Thanks, jillybear. I've double and triple checked the sync settings. On my Samsung Stratosphere, I don't see an "apply settings to" setting. But that may be because I only have one account syncing, and that's the Google calendar. As I say, everything about that calendar syncs properly, except edits that affect only the reminder time.

I'm more and more convinced that it's an issue on the phone, probably in the default Calendar app. So another option at some point may be to try out different calendar apps. I've been thinking about doing that anyway -- the default app's dialogs for setting event dates and times, for instance, are very clunky.
