How Can U Restore OTA Update Notifications on LG Ally?

I went to the local VZW store, but they could only offer
to replace the phone.

So, I went to LG's support site and downloaded their
tool to do the update myself.  To prevent problems,
I ran a factory reset prior the upgrade. I also needed to
do another afterwards since the home key wasn't
functioning properly).  However, it did work.
