go to Manage Apps, then scroll to Text Messaging, tap on it to open it, press Clear Cache

Verizon transferred me to Motorola and she suggested nothing other than sending the phone on for repair. I explained to her that that doesnt fix the problem as it is a software issue not a phone issue or others with Motorola phone wouldnt be having the same issue!
Waste of time!

here's another thing to try ... follow the directions in my earlier post, only instead of clearing the cache, clear the data

This won't work for me. If fact I don't even have the text app to select. to delette cache or data. I am going through settings and apps. Help please!

menu > manage apps > all > text messaging, click on it > clear cache
