I have had the $50 prepaid plan for about 10 months now and I just purchased a (verizon) HTC droid incredible online. I want to step up to the $80 a month prepaid smartphone plan. I'm told by a verizon chat rep that I can't do it because the phone won't work with that plan. How can that be???? it's a verizon phone!!!
any help please

Simple. ALL smartphones, Android, IPhone, Blackberry, and Window phones require a data plan. This is what is putting a crimp in your plan. I believe that the cheapest data plan is $40 added to all the other costs. I do believe that Verizon does offer some smartphones to go with their prepaid plans, but not all of them, The HTC Incredible, I guess, is not one of them. Check to see which smartphones are prepaid eligible.

I just checked. The Samsung Illusion seems to be the ONLY smartphone available for the $80 smartphone plan that you are interested in.
