Icons on top of home screen

Can anyone tell me where I can find the meaning of all the icons on top of my home screen? The newest one that showed up is a bright red square with a white asterisk inside it. Some of them worry me. Thanks

You can get the on-line manual either here at Your Verizon, or, depending on who manufactured your cell phone, going to their site and getting an E-manual. All the icons used by your system should be listed in there.

I checked both my LG manual and my Motorola manual and found no such symbol. There are certain symbols that are the same in all the systems. But then, each manufacturer has their own set of symbols as well.

I think I saw one of these today and it was an error warning that an app wasn't working.  Just closed it out & it went away.

Hi Mortb. Thank you for responding! I will check the manual. I think I found the meaning of the red symbol with the asterisk. It was a severe weather warning from my weather app but it is still on the phone and the warning is over. I will check the manual. Thanks again.

I have Accu-weather, and their severe weather symbol is a red triangle with a yellow ! in the center. I believe that Weather Bug also uses the same type of symbol. It just may be from a weather alert. If you live in Florida and along the east coast, you just had a tropical storm visit you.
