Is the update causing problems?

My phone updated about 2 weeks ago, and since then I can't edit pictures or documents, and I have to charge my battery at least twice a day when it used to only be at 35% by the end of the day without having to charge it at all.

I asked the photo editor app company about not being able to edit pictures any more, and they said it is a problem with the sd card.  But the sd card never had any problems before the update about 2 weeks ago. 

Office Suite pro will edit some documents, but says it can't save the changes to a lot of others.

I can't get through to verizon customer service and dont want to drive all the way in to the store if there is a simple fix.

Is there any progress being made on this?

The store wanted to do a factory reset, but told me I would lose access to my sd card.

There's no easy fix that I know of. Someone spoke of a patch or 'update' to fix the never ending list of problems this kitkat upgrade had caused. I heard it won't be long.
