Just doesnt seem right....is it just me?

So I finally joined the 21st Century and upgraded to a smartphone. Got the LG Spectrum 2 on Monday. Took quite a bit of time and effort to even get it going as I could only get 1 bar, sometimes 2. By very late Monday night I was good to go. I spent Tuesday investigating and discovering all the great things smartphones do. On Wednesday night I go to make a call, and the power button is stuck down into the camera. I can't do a thing! Called Support. They are sending me another phone, but here is where I start to have bad feelings....

1. They are sending me a pre-owned phone. I doubled my bill, signed up again for 2 years, got a fancy new phone that I used for 2 days, and now they are sending me a used phone.

2. The original phone was sent Fed-Ex overnight and I got it in 2 days, which is fast for where I live. This used phone they are sending me is by USPS and it will be 5 days before I get it. I can only assume since they now "Got me" with a new 2 year contract, they don't have to be quite so fast.

This just isn't sitting right, and before all this, I was perfectly happy with Verizon.

I just needed to vent. I feel a little better now.

It is not correct if your phone is less than 14 days old you should be getting a new phone http://support.verizonwireless.com/information/device_replacement_program.html I would call VZW and talk with them. Have any paper work ready to give them the numbers if they ask.  Good Luck

Also when you send any of the phones back, use your own FedEx Label and tracking even if you need to spring for the few bucks. Verizon is notorious for claiming the box is empty or they cannot locate it if you use their return label. you can see that in the posts all ovre here on the forum.

You only have 14 days to return a phone you don't like.  After 14 days, you are locked in and have to deal with the warranty policy which is a refurbished phone.  If it was me, I would go to the closest Verizon store, not 3rd party store, and return the phone for a full refund.  Then start over.

You had this phone since Monday June 17, 2013 ?

Go to the verizon wireless store and either do what Horses stated return it pay the $35 restocking fee and cancel everything.

Or as the other poster said exchange it for a brand new phone and no refurbished junk.

You can even switch to a whole different phone right now this minute.

The delay in the new phone arriving is to lock you in from leaving and to get a second hand phone.

Go to the store *BEFORE* the 14 days have passed or you will be sorry.

Good Luck

Thank you all for the info. I had already talked to Verizon earlier today and the man INSISTED that this phone would be just as good as a new one. I could not make any headway with him. I will try again tomorrow with the added info from all of you. Thanks so much!

They are going to try and run the clock out on you.  If you're smart, you will return the defective phone to the nearest Verizon store immediately.  Don't mess with calling customer service.

You are absolutely correct. I noticed the time they were going to send a refurbish phone would have negated the 14 day return period. Another scam by verizon which I am reading is not good business practice.

Pretty soon you won't get even 14 days. First it was 30 days, dropped to 14 days so it will soon be 7 days or no days at all.

If the phone was purchased online, it has to be returned in the same method it was sent to the customer. They can't return the phone for an exchange under the return policy through the store.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Funny I never noticed that little ditty before. I have purchased accessories on line, but the Verizon Corporate Store near me always swapped or took back my defective accessory. I don't purchase my cell phones on line so my assumption was buy on line return to any verizon corporate store.

You learn something everyday.
