LG G5 Screen Overlay Error Message

Hi All:

I recently got the LG G5 phone. I just tried to save a photo to my phone from the Facebook app, but I am unable to do so. I keep getting the following error message: 'Screen overlay detected. To change this permission setting, you first have to turn off the screen overlay from Setting>Apps.' I'm then given the option of clicking on an "OPEN SETTINGS" link. When I select this link, I'm taken to a screen titled 'Draw over other apps.' However, there isn't an option to turn off whatever this overlay thingy is. I didn't even download any funky apps, so I have NO idea what's going on. PLEASE HELP!! Screenshots attached! Capture+_2016-06-29-13-10-21.png

My friend's works fine. Try this. Go into Settings > Application manager > Facebook > Permissions -- he has Camera, Mic, Storage and Your location selected. Those are the drivers (from what I understand) to allowing the app to save a photo to your device. In Android M the permissions are managed individually.

I enjoy being able to save pictures from Facebook as well. Let's see if there is a way around this error message. Have you tried going directly to setting then apps versus using the link? If so, what happens?

I didn't even think o trying that.

Here is something else that I forgot to add. When the phone initially synced my apps, FB worked fine. However, at one point I uninstalled the FB app (after my phone did updates and what not), then reinstalled the app.

I ended up getting the FB app to work by changing the option to 'No' on all the apps on the second screenshot. Once I did that, FB worked quite fine.

Good deal. Yeah Google gave the user more control over permissions in Android M but that can make for some confusion from time to time. Glad you got it working. Take care.
