LG K8V on Total Wireless?

I am considering buying my first smartphone, but I don't like Verizon's data plan prices.

Verizon is the network that works best at my rural home.

Total Wireless uses Verizon's network, but I'm not crazy about Total's entry level smartphones.

I think I would like Verizon's LG K8V.  Can I buy an LG K8V from Verizon and then use it on Total Wireless?  Or are they "locked" to Verizon only?

Customer Support

We'd love to welcome you into the Verizon family. Getting a great service at a great price is crucial. All of our 4G phones are unlocked but whether they will work on another network depends somewhat on compatibility. To know for sure you would need to speak to the carrier you are considering.

We could definitely set you up with a great service with us though. What concerns do you have with our plans? Have you seen our postpaid and prepaid options?

Re: LG K8V on Total Wireless?

What is Total Wireless? I live in rural Ohio, have a new LGK8v android phone and a data plan which includes an old Verizon Jetpak (portable wifi) which I love. Having no problems with transmission or receipt. If that's Total Wireless, go for it. I'm more than pleased. No complaints.

Re: LG K8V on Total Wireless?

Total Wireless is a MVNO carrier that has licensed to use the Verizon Wireless network to operate itself on. It doesn't own the towers so it doesn't have any of the maintenance costs built into their plans. They can also have throttling policies to reduce your speed depending on the plan you choose or the amount of data you use.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
