LG Lucid + pushy salesman = BAD CHOICE

I made big mistake of purchasing an LG Lucid and absolutely HATE IT. 4G is not avaiable in half the places I go, it does not have business level apps and I could care less about video and pretty graphics. The only way to use the calendar and other contact features is to have a google account -- which is ridiculous!!! Salesman said that Iphone was not worth the money and that Blackberry sucks and about to go out of business.  I plan on bringing this piece of crap phone back tomorrow am. I am so fed up with the people in the Hamilton, NJ Verizon office that I will try another location and if they try the same tactics I will switch providers.

Make sure you return it within the 14 day return policy.  Any Android smartphone is going to require a Google account.  I'm not sure what the IPhone 4s requires, but you might prefer that phone.  However, it is not 4G.   Do you want/need internet access and a data plan?  If you only want voice and texting, you may be happier with a feature phone that doesn't require a data plan.  By the way, you can look on the Verizon web site and find the coverage maps and see where 4G is available.

Blackberry is about to go out of business unless they come out with something better than what they have. Have you tried reseating the sim card (take it out and put it back in)? Restarted the phone? Pulled the battery? Called customer service?

Iphone is the same way with the email account, you have to have an apple id to fully use the device. And what is a "business level" app? An app is an app no matter how you slice it.

It sounds like you have a bigger problem with the Android OS than the Lucid. “Business level apps” are going to be the same in the Google Play Store, regardless of which Android device you have. So maybe, Android isn’t for you. Moreover, the 4G network’s prevalence isn’t a direct reflection of the phone either. If there’s no 4G towers, having a different 4G device wouldn’t alter your data connection. If there’s nothing to connect to… then it will of course default to 3G.

If you want to stick with an Adroid device, try and HTC… HTC Sync is designed to work with MS Outlook and such. But as aforementioned, a Google account is pretty much a “must have” with an Android. But then again, you honestly might be better off with an Iphone (ick) for the task managing/calendar. But of course the 4s isn’t a 4G phone… anywho. Good luck!

It's unfortunate that some sales reps don't listen to the customer and instead push an operating system they think should fit everyone. It's best to do your homework and stick with what you want, instead of listening to someone who may know less than you do.

There is only one exchange allowed, so if you exchange the Lucid, whatever you choose will be your phone for the next 20 months. If you're unsure or waiting for something new to release, return it and pay the $35 restocking fee. Your upgrade date will be reset to what it was, and you can use it when you're ready. You can always buy a phone off-contract while you're waiting.

Yep, you need a Gmail account to activate an Android phone. Which OS are you truly interested in, and which business apps are you looking for? Forget what the rep told you ... BlackBerry going out of business is speculation, and the iPhone is worth the money to great number of people.
