Lolliopop update is killing my phone!! Help!!

I am so disgusted with the new update.  Before the update, I LOVED my S5.  It was fast, had great memory, and had no battery problems.  After the update, my battery life is non-existent, it gets stuck on screens, is slow and sluggish, and regularly overheats to the point I have to either take out the battery, or put it in the freaking fridge!  I even tried cleaning out the cache, wiping things clean, decreasing the number of apps on my phone, and even replacing the battery. NOTHING has worked, and it is getting worse.  Today I took it to the local Verizon Store (The Avenue Viera, 6670 Colonnade Avenue #102, Melbourne, FL 32940).  I walked in, desperate, because I use my phone for work, graduate school, and for my family.  I told the guy what was going on.  He was basically a jerk.  He said, 'That is Samsung's Problem'.  When I told him I was concerned because it was overheating and I was afraid the phone (which I am still paying on), would be destroyed--along with everything on it.  He then asked, "Well, does your phone make calls?"  I told him yes.  He then asked, "And you can text?"  Again, I said yes.  He then had the audacity to say, "well, then we [Verizon] is working?"  I was stunned.  I thought maybe he was joking.  I, again, stated I was worried about the phone being overheated and since I had gotten it under the 'Edge Program', I didn't want the phone to be destroyed.  His reply, "Well, you should have a one year warranty for that."  Seriously!!!!  I then asked him if I should go to Samsung's Customer Service.  This idiot then said, "What, do you think they are going to hurry up with a new update for you?"  I couldn't believe he was actually being so rude.

From the time I walked in the floor, I was nice, professional, and had expressed a real concern.  I am absolutely ready to drop Verizon all together.  I am counting the days till my contract is up!

If you are on Edge you have no contract. But what he said is right, the Update is Samsung's problem. There is nothing Verizon can do about it no matter how many people complain or think they can. Not defending that person or how they acted at all as that was just uncalled for

And to add insult to injury. VZW has the nerve to say with a straight face that they put OS updates through "extensive testing" before releasing the update.

They try but when the masses want and update now and don't care if it has issues this is what they get. Will they learn? Of course not.

I can't agree more. This lollipop update is the worst. There is a 10 second delay when you touch something; the alarm does not sound on mute anymore; oh and the phone no longer rotates so I can't take horizontal pictures anymore. Sucks!

Verizon does NOT test these updates at all. They go directly from the manufacturer to Verizon where Verizon checks to make sure all of their bloatware is installed. If it is then they start pushing it out to the end user.
