For those of you having this issue.  Have you run the phone in Safe Mode?  Safe mode only loads the core applications necessary to make the phone function.  Usually an update catches an app that has not been updated for use with the new OS and it can conflict.  The last Samsung update did this with the Camera app.  Run in Safe Mode and see if the issue is still present.  If it is then it is the OS or one of the core apps that is draining the battery.  If it is not, then it is one of the add on apps

Only the ones that complain incessantly that they need that update the day it comes out. Well they got it really quick and they got just what they should have....A Crap ton of problems.

I fixed my phone by taking 4 hours to backup and factory rest everything!!! Thanks customer service- for nothing. Thank you to a message board member who told me just to bite the bullet and reset the whole phone. Never again verizon.

It is very unfortunate for the problems you've had with your device. But Google developed the Android operating system. Verizon simply provides the technology to deliver it to your device.

There have been many complaints about Lollipop bugs. Google was aware of this and held off the release of Lollipop 5.0. Then claimed that they corrected the bugs in early Nov. 2014. Apparently they haven't based on all the post coming in here.

Windows Microsoft 10 is coming out with mobile software. So that maybe something to consider down the road. Cause after all they create great operating systems and software. They got caught with their pants down with the mobile market with their main focus on computers, but should be a force in the next year or so.

I fully understand that Verizon is not at fault in the update; however, having said that, I asked several times for some support, or to at least acknowledgment that this was indeed a problem, especially with it overheating. I had to go to the Internet and plead before someone (not from verizon) told me they had to do a factory reset. And furthermore,  if I buy a bad burger from a fast food restaurant,  I go back to that restaurant,  I do not track down the beef distributer!

And I fully understand you as well. I just wish Google would step up to the plate, no pun intended, lol. In my experience with Verizon. They truly care about their customers as you know. And are kinda left here taking all the problem of Google and the Android Lollipop 5.0. There are going be bugs and mistakes, Microsoft and Apple have them, the two biggest developers of operating systems. But you'd think Google would have done a better job testing this, seems they dropped the bag on this one?

Google know their were bugs in 5.0, so why release so soon to Big Red for push download. Now no offical follow up on a patch/update. This is not winning friends for Google or Verizon and hurting customers and Verizon.

Agree, could have been a issue to push it out for financial gain, or be newer. It's likely a tough competitive market! New things getting developed... people want the newest latest smartphone and OS. Same with computers over the years, that's what's gonna sell.

I tried contacting Google about the next patch/update release date..answer was no known issue and therefore no comment. I don't think they even have 5.0.2 working bug free yet, this is not the way to win people's trust in a company like Google. It's seems better to them to let the S5 customers and VZW swing in the breeze.
