My Galaxy S5 has a reception problem in my house while my wife's S5 does not. What do you recommend?

No channel or frequency changes can be made by the user as this is all handled by the device and network system.
However you could try removing the battery and than remove your sim card. Use care as not to touch the foil part of the card and then reinsert the card once again into the slot.
Also check under:
1.Settings,
2. then tap More Networks.
3. Next tap Mobile networks
4. Then tap Network mode and set your phone for LTE/CDMA if it's not already set in that mode. Give this a try first and if still having reception problems take the phone into a Verizon Corp Store for a free replacement sim card if needed.
