New Eris - what's the alert symbol?

Purchased Droid Eris (HTC) yesterday. Works fine. Took it off the charger today, there's an ALERT icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Can't find what it means (I've checked the manual and support sites).

 

Anybody know what this is about?

What's it look like, and did you drag down your notification bar to see what it says?
