Exactly man.  I hate when companies make a huge announcement about an announcement.  I could see this working in 1920.  This is 2013.  We know the tricks.  The big announcement will probably be something stupid like offering a new plan package, or offering free phones but more expensive monthly payments to pay for them.  If it was truly ground breaking they should announce to get people excited and WANT to come to Verizon.

This May 22 announcement better be for the HTC One!  I've been waiting since 11/12 for a phone of that magnitude.

Screw the S4. (Seriously Samsung.. the same exact design as the S3? COME ON!!)

I want a HTC One!

I think this is the nail in the coffin as far as getting the HTC One at VZW anytime soon:

Verizon confirms Samsung Galaxy S4 coming in May

By Jerry Hildenbrand  | Apr 18 2013 | 6:18 pm  | 26 Comments

No date was given, but previous leaked information points to May 30

Verizon has confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available on their network during the month of May via Twitter this afternoon. We've previously seen a May 30 date leaked from Staples for the Verizon version of the S4, but no actual date was given today.
As just about every other US carrier has given out release information on their version of the Galaxy S4, it' nice to see Verizon say something -- even if it is just the month. With May right around the corner, I've a feeling we'll know more soon. Of course, we'll let you know as soon as we do.

I suppose it's good that it was announced, so that takes one more thing off the list that they may "ANNOUNCE" on May 22.

Being as there has been somewhat of an uproar about them not selling the ONE, maybe that'll be part of the announcement (hopeful thinking).  Otherwise, at least I'll know for sure to take my business to AT&T when my contract is up in early June.  Who knows?  It's really a sad shame that this company has become so secretive and won't allow us a real choice in what we would like to buy. So, if many of us leave for the HTC One, then at least they'll take a well-deserved hit for becoming such a terrible business model. (or the hit may not be major, but they'll lose quite a few customers)

Even the fact that anything is a 'secret announcement' is quite lame.

@nneptune, so the SG4 think was a VZW leak on twitter, so not really an "announcement", meaning it may still be the 5/22 agenda.  But that's not my issue -- my worry is that if the SG4 is really launching in May at VZW then they won't want to dilute that with the addition of an HTC One anytime soon.  But I could be wrong.

I just did a side by side comparison between the htc one and the htc droid dna, and they're more similar than different. That could be why vzw is in no hurry to add the htc one to their lineup.

Yes, at least in my case, it is those few differences that makes the HTC ONE so compelling.  I like the fact that HTC doesn't try to blind with gimmicks, but offers useful improvements.

When my daughter recently had to upgrade as her aging Incredible 3G was on its last breath, the Verizon sales rep steered her clear of the DNA.

@Heretic, I think you totally hit the main issue why VZW won't offer the HTC One.  Unfortunately, for an apparent minority of us, 11Gb usable storage isn't going to cut it.  It's that simple.  In our case I suppose VZW just expects us to either choose an SG4 or go to another carrier.

The One not coming to Verizon, was not HTC's fault. According to correspondence from HTC, it's Verizon that didn't want to participate. They are forcing HTC to make a special version for them. Bloat-ware, logos all over the place, etc...

The DNA was an ill timed mis-step for HTC and Verizon.

There should have never been an Incredible 2. They should have skipped the 2 and brought out the Inc 4G. Then they should have released the DNA instead of the 4G. If they would have offered that, they would have had an equivalent to the One and One X that the other carriers got, it would have run it's course and we could have the One now like ALL the other carries do. The DNA is a fantastic phone, but just a poorly timed release that was too late.

We are all paying for Verizon's and HTC's stupidity, but I'm placing the blame on Verizon, since there is proof that they are to blame for not getting the One now.

It's no secret that Verizon strong arms it's phone makers and that hurts HTC. Samsung and Apple are too big and they won't be bossed around. That's why we see all of their phones with release info.

Since they didn't set a date for a "special" announcement for the SG4" which will unfortunately out sell the ONE, I doubt very much that the announcement next month, will be for the One.
