I'm with mostly everyone else who is thinking of moving to a different carrier! I've been using verizon ever since I've owned cell phones and was a big fan of motorola until HTC came to the market. I love HTC devices and even travel to taiwan for work and have a friend there that works for HTC in taiwan. The Incredible 2 was the best phone by far on verizon. Recently with all the issues I've been having with device and data connections on my newer devices and the software updates are horrible. it's making me think to move over to sprint. I prefer CDMA phones. I really like the One and see dev support for unlocking the bootloaders with other carriers, but not for verizon. after 10+ yrs on verizon, I think it's time to cut the umbilical cord and go with a carrier that takes care of it's customers. So for now I just need to wait for my contract to end. I will be one happy loyal customer when I finally get the One!

If your leaving over a phone you got bigger problems in life in genreal over your priorities period. Leaving over service i could understand.

It's becoming to crazy how people are getting with phones, I mean the htc one is a good phone but it's nothing  ground breaking at all, Unless your hung like a horse over the build that 99.9% of ppl will just cover up anyways lol. Then what do you have ? nothing great.

Can I just ask a general question,  I get that everyone is upset about how long it takes for a new phone to come out on Verizon, and it's frustrating that other carriers have the HTC One first.  But how is the One that much better than the DNA?

By the way, I left TMobile about a year ago,  because the network was bad, but I'm watching to see how they improve it.  I am paying about $49 more a month on Verizon for 3 people on my plan than I would under Tmobile, so once Tmobile improves I will calculate the break even point for ETF then go back.

the HTC One is better by far. Just about everything is upgraded on the One including Camera, Display (little more high resolution), Sense 5, Blinkfeed, build quality (DNA is still good with build quality), Better Processor speeds, and speaker quality. After watching videos about the One, there is absolutely no lag on the phone, whereas on the Galaxy S4 and DNA, there is some lag when there shouldn't be.

I concur with your sentiments.  Why not just give the customer what they want?  Why doesn't Verizon want customers that are happily giving them money?  This is a good thing, win-win-win situation for everyone (Verizon, Customer, HTC)

I guess I will never understand b/c I am not a high level executive making decisions based solely on metrics that do NOT include company perception, good will and keeping loyal customers loyal.

@ scott21, It's not just over the phone...it's about principals....I've been a loyal paying customer and like to do custom stuff on my phones at times. The hardware selection seems to have been getting slim by the year and even software support updates on some devices whether it be fixes or even android OS updates, is always lagging. Not saying other carriers are any better. But If I own my phone and have been paying for the service, I should be able to do what I want with it to make it an even more enjoyable experience on the network. I have developer friends using Sprint who admit verizon may have better signal service, but overall experience with sprint has been better. One of my biggest complaints is that once verizon finds out HTC has allowed development bootloader unlocking on a device, there so quick to lock it out with a software upgrade and forcing this upon customers. Since my last software upgrade on my DNA, my data has been horrible, whish I could downgrade versions back. So my point is not just over a specific phone, but more on the whole picture. If I'm going to be paying a premium for their service and always on time, I should be able to manage my own device hardware or software as needed by choice and not forced upon!

Okay, I drank the Kool-Aid. Well I actually just sipped it, not really a drink.

My Thunderbolt (which I've LOVED) is having issues charging. I haven't "upgraded" to another phone because since I've had the T-bolt I haven't seen anything that I thought was a significant step up. Actually, I'm on maybe my fourth T-bolt. I'm a power user, 4000 minutes a month minimum, lots of apps and lots of data. That said, I've been waiting for that "better" device and finally broke down and stepped into the AT&T store today.

I'm a LOYAL Verizon customer. I posted early in this thread that I've been with them in excess of 20 years. Yes, they're more expensive. I don't want a budget or cut-rate carrier, I want reliable coverage. My calls are all business and every call is of utmost critical importance.

So back to today's AT&T visit. Yes, the One is EVERYTHING everyone raves about. It's incredible. Actually they should name it that... no, that was a few phones back. Incredible 3? Never mind.

The processor speed is AMAZING. The graphics are ASTOUNDING. The sound is UNBELIEVABLE. This phone is absolutely unreal. After scrolling around (default demo version, right?) I hit YouTube and played the first video that showed up. Some trailer for a movie out this fall about the International Space Station being hit by asteroids or something. I really don't remember, but I remember every single one of the 1080 pixels of HD goodness burned into my narrow little mind. I have a 60" LCD in my living room with a monster surround sound... I'll still choose that to watch a movie (duh) but what I experienced (more than sight and sound) was astonishing to say the least.

I said I'm a business user. I have never once watched a movie on a device, but could see myself doing so with the One. I make a ton of phone calls, lots of texts with the wife and kids, tons of emails, and lots of apps. This phone has scored incredible high with me in facets I never knew I had. What does this mean to you? Nothing. I'm just some dude. Very technical and even geeky, but really nobody in the wireless world.

So the bottom line here is that I have THREE of the seven devices up for renewal on my Verizon plan. I'm very seriously considering moving those three accounts to AT&T and phasing out Verizon as the other contracts come due.

Yes. All over this stupid HTC One thing. It really is that really that incredible.

The ONLY thing I can say that didn't meet my expectations was the screen size. This is NOT a bad thing. I for some reason expected it was going to be much larger like the Galaxy S4. It's not. The phone is still "smart phone sized".

So Verizon, I've thrown down the gauntlet. Not that you care. We've done a lot of business together. I've made your house and mortgage payments for two decades. I've sent friends, family and acquaintances to you. In return I've had good coverage (not service, as service is a level of customer experience) but never a favor or solid in return. I've been okay with that, as such silliness is not in our contract. Nor is me being a life-long customer hanging on forever for that next, better device.

Had my T-bolt not been suffering a terminal illness I might have been willing to hang on for a few more months. I do not want the DNA, and I will not be locked into another 2 year contract just to find out four weeks later the One is suddenly available. If you had a rewards-type of plan to let customers (especially loyal, long-term customer) migrate when something is on the horizon we could continue. I'm afraid it's over.

A rewards type plan? That's clever.

Replying to my own post here. Verizon, ya done me right. Unbeknownst to me my Thunderbolt is STILL under warranty... since 2011!? Well, that's what Customer Service told me. And not that Assurion warranty either!

They're sending me a warranty replacement (with new battery) that will get me through until the One is (maybe) available. Thanks for the Solid, Verizon. Looks like AT&T won't be getting my money as long as Verizon comes up with the HTC One relatively soon.
