Hold up, you're not a Vzw customer yet you're trolling the forums?

Read the policy again yourself. If they handled everything... Why is there a delay from the carriers? If you bought the one from Google what difference does it make on what carrier you are on? Going to AT&T based on principles... Doesn't make sense to me. Sorry I am rambling.

I was a Verizon Wireless Customer up until December 12th (or thereabouts).

Updates to this thread still come to my inbox, so I still respond.

To be fair, your response should be to me, but to clarify, I understand.

Really Tidbits? You're reaching. If Google handles everything, why is there

a delay based on carrier?

There could be a whole lot of reasons for that. One of the most popular

ones is that in order for the Nexus 6 to be sold directly by Verizon,

Verizon demanded to approve when the updates would be deployed to phones on

their network, and Google caved.

Google says that the updates come from Google. If you think they are lying,

find something that shows they are.

You are infering as obvious that is plainly stated not to be true, because

why? I don't know.

Yes it should be, I apologize.

Not reaching at all. You bought an unlock and unbranded and based on a principle you went to another carrier that does the exact same thing Verizon does... You are contradicting yourself.

I will put money down it won't matter your device will be delayed of the update because of AT&T even if you got it from Google and it will have to do with the payload downloadable. If you activate any Nexus with a AT&T Sim installed you turn it into a AT&T branded Nexus. Same for Sprint. There's plenty of documentation on that and people TELL you to go through the process first before putting a Sim in.

Every time I've been waiting for an update for one of my devices on

Verizon, AT&T received the update as much as three months in advance.

Every time the phone I wanted was delayed, AT&T was selling that phone (or

it's AT&T variant) 2+ months ahead of Verizon.

As far as the phone activation, it doesn't matter.

If you activate it as T-Mobile, and download your updates, and then put in

an AT&T sim, it won't let you install the updates you downloaded, in fact,

it will remove them from your phone.

This has been documented, and recorded on video.

You can activate it without a sim, and install all the updates, and then

put in a Sim card, but you will receive the update based on your sim card,

and nothing more.

Much like the Moto X(2014)?  Verizon isn't always last and AT&T isn't always first.  It will always be hit or miss between the two.

Read above.  You may have been lucky to pick the right devices.

Yes it does, there's proof about it.

Like I said... If you activate it with a specific sim it becomes that carrier device.  Plenty of facts on that.  Most people will do just that when they get it.

This has been documented, and recorded on video.

See above and it's been documented and recorded on video.  It's been verified by developers, and Google in Google groups.  So are they lying?

You can activate it without a sim, and install all the updates, and then

put in a Sim card, but you will receive the update based on your sim card,

the Moto X was on AT&T within a week of Verizon having it, not three

months. I don't care about being the first, I care about having it in a

reasonable timeframe. I waited an entire month after AT&T released the

phone before jumping ship. Here two months later and Verizon still hasn't

released the phone.

I "read above" and found that you are really really grasping at straws.

There's video proof of the opposite, actually.

I've seen video (more than one) of it being activated on one carrier, with

one sim, and the available updates changing when the sim card is changed.

No Google's not. I searched Google groups (and I'm fairly good) and found

nothing to substantiate your claim.
