Then explain the Nexus 5 and why it doesn't work then.  I SHOULD be able to do the same thing, but it doesn't work.  It will not place a call, and it will not send texts.  The Nexus 5 supports Band 4 as well as band 17 for LTE and supports all bands for CDMA for Verizon.  It disproves what you just said or more people would have been using the Nexus 5 on Verizon.  I would have used my Nexus 5 on Verizon.

I am aware of the discussions. But they are saying that the N6 can because of how Verizon is authenticating the device. The N5 proves they are not doing it that way. If that is a recent change then anyone right now with a N5 can use it on Verizon with this change provided they have a activated sim. I tried it and it still doesn't work. Just a "iPod" still and can't place a call.

I also don't believe the n5 has the necessary bands. Yes it works on CDMA (sprint) bands but I don't believe the vzw bands are supported.

Yes check the spectrumit does support them. All of them for Verizon. 🙂

This is one of the reasons why there was initial speculation the Nexus 5 may have a chance coming to Verizon. The reason when it was first released people were peeved they couldn't use it on Verizon. The reason why they couldn't is simply the IMEI were never in the database.

I don't even know why I am researching this. You are the most annoying person on this forum. The other thing is you have completely high jacked this thread. This a Nexus 6 thread not a Nexus 5 thread. I am not a spectrum or carrier nerd but from what I gather (and I have done way to much reading about a device I could care less about) is that Verizon does not have to allow you on their CDMA bands. BUT they have to allow you to use any compatible device on the 700MHZ spectrum. The Nexus 5 does not support 700MHZ.

Here is my speculation again just speculation: It signs you on 700MHZ band and t a glitch lets you use all of them on the Nexus 6.

it doesnt matter what the specs of the phone are.  If the device ID is not in the verizon system it isnt going to work no matter what sim card you put in it

I am pointing out that here Nexus 5 disproves what you are saying about the authenticating of the Nexus 6. If Verizon did authenticate at that level not one person would not have trouble using the Nexus 5. Yet no one can. So explain again why the Nexus 6 can be used but the Nexus 5 can't as they are in the same position and run the same software.

They do not have to allow anyone on their CDMA network it is grandfathered and has no bearing on the 700 spectrum. People are waiting for XLTE to be able to use devices not sold from Verizon. As long as Verizon uses CDMA for voice and data any device that needs to use CDMA will not work without the MEID(IMEI without the last digit). Verizon still has to certify devices in order to use CDMA. The Nexus 6 is certified but it can't authenticate. Right now I am willing to put money on the reason why it can not authenticate and activate the sim is missing payload. So if you stick a Verizon sim without this payload it won't activate. Google hasn't gotten proprietary files to do this with the way lollipop during the setup process will download carrier payload(example see Sprint, or AT&T).

This is why it works and why it can't activate a sim. Why it isn't being sold yet. Verizon wants to protect it's network and their network code(this is nothin new).

It does not have all the antennas for Verizon in the Nexus 5. It has some. Why don't you go make your own thread on the Nexus 5 and get someone else to do your homework for you? I only care about the N6.

And if you do your homework which you don't, you would see that for whatever reason the IMEI used to activate your N6 on Verizon was not your IMEI.  it may show up now t hat their system was originally fooled but it didn't toactivate the phone originally. Again you are a skeptic because you had the miraculous activation. Go put a pay as you go sim in your N5 from AT&T and get this thread back on topic.
