This is really becoming a major issue. We shouldn't have to use our data package while on Wi-Fi. This is not acceptable!

Nope. No response from Verizon.

I absolutely agree. Verizon, at least give me a response and tell me you're working on it. Nothing. Silence.

If the note 4 is using the booster for both at the same time, there will be a seperate notification symbol in the notification bar. (a 4G above a wifi signal)
If nothing else, call tech support. Verizon does not monitor these boards full time to answer every question.

The first thing I did was call tech support. They had me clear the phone's cache and reset all phone settings. Didn't work. Tech support person said they would call me back the next day after they talked to their supervisor about what might be going on, but I never heard back. That's why I'm here trying to crowd source an answer instead.

I've disabled everything I can think of and experimented with a lot of different things and it's not working. It's all explained at the beginning of the thread.

Please reply back if you have a better way of getting a response/answer. It would really help.

Ok I just spoke with tech support as well. I received the same answer as fawcets mentioned. She had me clear the cache, checked a couple of settings and than said this is the way the device functions. She went away from the phone and grabbed two other phones, one with KitKat and one with Lollipop and she said that the 4G and WIFI icons were both active on both versions of android. I told her before I "upgraded" when connected to a WIFI signal my 4G was greyed out. She assures me that she is connected to a strong WIFI and both icons are active on both devices. She says the only true way to make sure you are not using data is to turn off mobile data. I do not care for the answer but there was not anymore she could or would do. Verizon's point of view, at least from this tech support call, there is no problem the device is working as it was before. Not sure where to go from here, I think there is an issue.

That was more or less the conclusion my tech support guy came up with. Again, he said that he'd call back the next day with more information, but never did.

If remembering to toggle mobile data off and on every time you come to and leave your house is the solution (I think that's pretty weak, personally), it would be nice to automate that process. For instance, if I'm connected to WiFi, at least prompt me to do it. But, at that point I'm sure Verizon would say that's on Samsung's shoulders since it's their interface/overlay.

Really disappointed that you, essentially, got the same response rclksr. I never had this problem while I was running KitKat, so to be told otherwise by Verizon is BS.

There has to at least be an explanation. Maybe Verizon will step up at some point and let us know.

My Note 4 accidentally upgraded yesterday after numerous attempts to not allow it. I now have no 4g access but wireless works. I run a business with this phone and need access at all times to my emails. Can this install be reversed back to the other OS? Can a class action lawsuit be filed against Verizon and Samsung for not giving us the option to install the update. This is similar to the Microsoft lawsuit with IE as a default web browser! Just my .02 on this horrible OS without any testing being done before the release.

There are ways to downgrade your OS to KitKat (4.4). There are a lot of third party sites that are really good at keeping up on all the files and drivers you need to do it.

If you're not tech savvy, I wouldn't suggest doing it. It's easy to mess up, and if you do that you'll be dealing with a slew of other problems. And it sounds like you can't afford any downtime on your phone anyway since you're trying to run a business. I can certainly appreciate that.

If you're confident and want to try it, check this out as a starting point:
