Spectrum is a work in progress, stay away.

I brought my Verizon-based Motorola to a Verizon store and bought a 2-for-1 Spectrum. From day-1 it didn't receive email. Each time I returned to the store for assistance I was assured that the phone was OK, that it must have been my early toilet training that was causing frustration.

I do NOT get more than 2 day-old emails; each time I ask for help a rep re-sets my mail account and shows me how the email works just fine (in the store). They blame the provider (Comcast) and the planets, but never fix the problem. Now that I have passed the Return date, I am stuck with this piece of junk for 2 years. They say they won't exchange the phone unless there is something wrong with it, and each time they reset (lose) my email account, it works in the store.

I stayed with Verizon (rather than AT&T or Sprint) because I trusted their customer service. I would not recommend Verizon to my worst enemy. The Spectrum (at least mine) is a garbage phone that is being discounted for a reason.

Worse than the junk Spectrum is Verizon itself. They charge a PREMIUM for renting you their bandwidth but don't make themselves available for comment or complaint. I'd have to say that $120 per month for substandard service is a con that the FCC ought to do something about. Buyer beware? You have to sign on the dotted line before you ever get to evaluate this company or their junk phones.

This no longer makes sense since the moderator (quite reasonably) split the thread; I'm leaving it here for continuity's sake. Dave

I understand you've got some serious complaints, but why post them here? If deja lambert will return and give some more detail about the problem with the phone lockout, folks here will try to help. But I don't see the connection between your issues and the thread.

Sorry, but I've been a Verizon customer for a number of years, and on the occassion that I need help, I've always walked away more than satisfied. I've had the LG Spectrum for about two or three months now and it's probably the best smartphone I've ever owned. Yes, I had smartphones before this, a Blackberry, Droid X and Droid 2 to name three. Sorry to hear that you;ve had terrible experiences with both the Spectrum and Verizon.

Dave:

I posted my complaints after half a dozen visits to the store that sold me this junk; a dozen or more visits to what Verizon calls a tech support center but what looks like a simulator to me, and serious frustration with the overall product which includes the service, the phone, the support and the performance.

I have used Verizon for 2 years on a Droid X which gave me no problems. Before that I went through two Blackberries and numerous flip phones and had NONE of the problems I now experience daily.

I'm glad for anyone who has a successful experience with their Spectrum but to me it's a disaster compounded by an elusive support department that proves to me that the phone is just fine then sends me on my way. Follow-up? Zero. Customer satisfaction? Zero. THIS, not your happy time with your Spectrum, is the lowest common denominator. The store is perfectly willing to take the phone back, for a hefty fee. If I ran a business like that, I'd be on the street in a week.
