Please help me convince the rest of my family by offering your reasons for wanting to leave Verizon.
For me its;
Verizon has destroyed it's relationship with Google for all sorts of reasons, resulting in Verizon getting new Google phones last (and no more Nexus?).
There is no way to avoid the bloatware and android modifications made by Verizon except to root.
We might get the HTC One sooner if Verizon wasn't such an arrogant company that doesn't care about its customers AT ALL.
With today's leak about Verizon's collusion in a privacy busting data collection scheme, my desire to leave Verizon is at its peak. Between all of my family members we pay them a fortune.
This sounds like trolling and your are just looking for an argument. The reasons you post are shallow at best. You can go to a different provider to get a different phone but the bloatware, fortune you pay each month and the less than mediocre service that you will subscribe to. will follow you. You said it yourself that you need reasons to convince your family to leave. Sounds like they want to stay and you are the one that wants to leave.
Jeeze... I am not trolling. What a thing to say based on my post!
I'm a 59 year old mom who wants the latest Google phone as close to the Google vanilla OS as i can get and I have been avoiding rooting just because it looks like a lot of trouble. My oldest daughter has convinced me that staying with Verizon will ensure that I get the newest greatest phones, like the HTC ONE, 6 months after the rest of the carriers. I have also heard that Google and Verizon are on the outs and so Verizon won't get anymore of their flagship phones. I find that Verizon's bloatware takes up space on my Galaxy Nexus and I resent not being able to get rid of some of it. I have no Verizon signal in the places I go to the most, e.g. Whole Foods, Giant Food, and most of Chevy Chase, DC. We pay Verizon a small fortune (two home phone lines, four smart phones, a tablet, two old style usb modems, and a mobile hot spot thing)
My husband and youngest daughter want to stay with Verizon. They say that none of the other carriers has coverage as good as Verizon's and that Verizon is the best one to take when you travel. They also say it's just too much hassle to leave.
I really just wanted some ammunition for my point of view.
Regarding the last point in my original post, I may have been reacting too quickly. Seems everyone wants a piece of the privacy pie. I often tell friends that I have no expectation of privacy anymore and am not overly concerned about it. This latest thing just sounded above and beyond getting data so I get targeted ads. Now it has leaked that EVERYONE is spying on us (including xbox) and so perhaps Verizon shouldn't be singled out.
I will refrain from expressing my thoughts about your reaction Klue, lest I be accused of flaming.
I've been with AT&T and left. Terrible, horrible customer service. Brought in a bricked phone to an AT&T store. The so-called technician looked at it, just looked at it, and told me that he had no idea what was wrong. I asked if he could call someone to check it out. He told me no. I asked a clerk how much it would cost to get out of my contract. He told me and I paid it and left, without looking back. They may have newer phones before Verizon, but that's it. Coverage is not as good as Verizon's.
Also had T-Mobile. Not a bad outfit, but the coverage is not as good as Verizon's.
I will not say that Verizon is perfect; nothing is, but as far as I'm concerned, they are far better than any of the other big carriers.
While no one will fault you for trying another provider, convincing others to switch can end very badly. Every time a call is dropped or they get terrible customer service, they'll resent you. This is why I never attempt to persuade anyone to go with a particular phone or OS.
I understand frustration when you can't get a phone that works, or decent coverage. I am a business person, and rely on my phone for my income. I went with Verizon because of their awesome coverage, but lately it has been very spotty, more dropped calls, and sometimes no coverage at all. I used to brag about awesome coverage, even int he basement, but I cannot say that any longer. I am missing many calls, because the phone doesn't get bars. I have a Razzrmaxx, and was told it is one of the best phones, and after several attempts, and a new phone, nothing changes. I am considering US Cellular. I thought they may be disrupting my service to force me to leave because I have an unlimited data plan.
The government isnt listening to phone calls. They are looking at duration. Yes you are paying a fortune for the best service you can get. If you get ATT you will be like Can you hear me now:)
Yep, you are correct. Its a troll. He has no real reason for leaving that he puts in his statement. He is not smart enough to rid his phone of the bloatware on his own and he just repeats stuff he has heard other say. A troll at best.
If someone wants to leave VZW for any reason someone else don't need to give reasons to them to leave VZW they just pay up and leave no regrets no looking back and they don't let the door hit them in the fanny on the way out the door
