Scratch on Droid screen

I'm not quite sure how I did it, but I developed a small scratch on the screen of my Droid. Does anyone know of any good solutions to fix the scratch that won't harm the screen itself? Someone suggested toothpaste because its good for repairing scratched CD's, but I was wondering if there are other options.

I suggest a good screen protector. Most of them have some form of adhesive that will actually fill in most minor scratches as you apply the protector.

I usually use my fingernail to rub it until its gone... (on my blackberry).  Havent had a scratch on the Droid yet.

It's glass so just look up Glass Repair Scratches on Google.

I have heard that nail polish remover works on removing scratches

This is from the Droid User Guide:

cleaning solutions

To clean your phone, use only a dry soft cloth. Don’t use alcohol or other

cleaning solutions.

I'm guessing that something containing acetone is a definite no no.

Screen protector for teh r34lz.  Invisibleshield might be the best bet.

The glass on my old Razr got chipped and I bought a Clear Protector from clearprotector.com that made it invisible so there is now one on my new Droid as well.

The screen protector is the best bet.

I don't know if the Motorola Droid has the oleophobic coating, like the Eris, but you certainly do NOT want to use any abrasive product on a coated screen, as it will remove that oleophobic coating.  That would cause problems on 2 levels.  FIrst the screen would actually look different where you used the abrasive, and secondly it would show fingerprints much worse in that area.

It is this oleophobic (oil resisting) coating that allows you to pretty much wipe finger prints and face oils from the phone with a single swipe of a clean cloth, as well as significantly reducing the build-up in the first place.

Judging from how "slick" the screen on the Moto Droid feels, I'm guessing it might have a coating on it.

The screen protector probably isn't going to have an oleophobic coating, so it's going to not have the same slick feeling, and won't help with the print and face oil problems, but at least it will provide protection to the screen to prevent further damage, and I suspect that in time some of the screen protector manufacturer's will start producing products that do have an oleophobic coating on them, so your Droid's base screen will still be pristine (except for your one scratch) to apply them to.
