Spotty 4g (cutting in and out all day long)

This is getting fairly annoying. I'll be using the internet for browsing, youtube, facebook, marketing, etc., and out of nowhere I'll lose 4g connection and it won't come back on until I turn the phone on and off. I've tried clearing my internet cache, performing soft resets, battery pulls and all that. Nothing fixes the problem. I then proceeded to call VZW Customer Support and the rep shipped a replacement unit over to me hoping it'll fix the problem. But no, that did nothing for me. I've done the system upgrade to version 5.9.905, Android Version 2.3.4.

Why should I be paying for my data plan if I'm hardly getting any service? This is getting ridiculous. Can I get some help please?

Chelsea, AL SE of Birmingham, AL - my 4 G Motorola Droid has been going from 3G 2 bars to 1G no bars and then no signal. Rarely getting 4G all day (and part of yesterday) - most of day no signal.  Previously I have been getting 3 & 4 bars on 4G. My 4G had been spotty the past 2 weeks but not this bad. Anybody know what is going on?!

The link below gives a pretty good color commentary on why this is happening.  I have used a power manager app in the past named Juice Defender Ultimate.  I had stopped using it recently but I remembered that it had a data recycle function when it goes from a locked state to an unlocked state.  I re-enabled the app and it has a prompt to refresh the data connection when you begin to use the touchscreen.  This refresh causes the data to recycle and restore the connection.  I have had it this way for a couple of days and it works very well.  If the data connection does drop, I just turn the screen off and unlock it to force the recycle from the app.  It beats having to do a power down.

Good luck to all in this but I wanted to share what I have found to be successful for me.

can we get a vzw tech on this? this is ridiculous. i turned off 4g and now my 3g is cutting in and out. why am I paying for 3g/4g when it doesn't even work more than half the day.

It's been happening to me as well, both with GB and now with ICS. And yes, I agree wholeheartedly, it is annoying. I know that in some places, like Florida, they were having tower problems, but that's the only place I have heard that is having problems. It's annoying when you are downloading something and suddenly the message "lost connections" comes up. Come on Verizon, can you please find out what the problem is and fix it?
