Where do I update my Username for my Email account?

I received a notice from my Email provider that I need to enter my Fully Qualified Domain Name to be able to log into my smartphone or any client mail based application when they upgrade in a few weeks.  They say when my phone was set up i more than likely just used my name and not the FQDN.  I've gone to account settings under more when i went to the email app and what I see there is Your name and it is only my name and not the @bex.net.  Maybe it's just a play on words and Your name is the same as Username.  I don't think I know what they are talking about.

Hi Barryhenn!  If this hasn’t already been resolved, let me suggest you remove the email account: http://bit.ly/NNwYR1 & then re-add the email account: http://bit.ly/HNAcyc using the server settings provided by your email provider.  Let us know how this turns out for you.  Thanks!  ^AT

What they're looking for is the full yourname@bex.net, as opposed to just yourname. When you do Menu > More > Account settings in the Email app and then look at Your name, you're just looking at the name that appears in the From line of an email that you send. That's not part of your login process.

Instead, in Account settings scroll down to Incoming or Outgoing settings and tap one of those (BUT BE CAREFUL NOT TO CHANGE ANYTHING!). There you'll see a User name entry, and I would guess that that's the one they're talking about. On my Strat it has myname@comcast.net, not just myname. If yours shows yourname@bex.net, you should be OK, since this is what the phone is using to log in, I think. If it just shows yourname, without @bex.net, then you do need to fix it. Honestly I'm not sure you can change this without deleting the account and adding it in again, since this sort of thing is done in the account setup process. But someone else may have a less drastic suggestion if you need to fix it. And you might very well want to call your provider's tech support just to be sure what they're asking for and where it should go.

Dave, thanks for the feedback but I don't see Incoming or Outgoing settings.

I tapped on the Email app tapped menu then More then account settings.  I see my name in the space Your name.

but when i scroll I do not see incoming or outgoing settings.

I have General settings, Sync settings, Notifications settings, Server settings, Signature settings and Applications settings.

None of which include incoming or outgoing..

On my phone, Incoming settings and Outgoing settings are under Server settings. If they're not there on your phone, then I don't know what to say. You really might want to give your provider's tech support a ring.

Thanks Dave,  I'll check with the Verizon shop because there has to be thousands of people in Toledo area with BEX.net service with Verizon phones.

I only have Account password and Sync email under Server settings.

Odd indeed -- I don't have either of those under Server settings. Are you using the stock Email app that comes with the phone?

I didn't want to mess around removing email setup as i was having some difficulties with it.  One of the Verizon guys set my phone up combining my web based mail account with a Gmail account.  The store tech had some difficulty figuring it out yesterday but was able to add another app.  Going to the menu and settings there was no option for updating Incomming and Outgoing with the required info.  There is now on the new app.  so I am good to go.  Now to get something to satisfy wife with her unresponsive Revolution.  What a piece a crap that phone is.  And she has to wait until Apr 2013 to replace it or pay through the nose.  What an aggravation.  Seems  like a terrible way for a company to do business but they get away with it.
