Maybe list the things that you really like and don't like abot the TP2 and people can tell you how the Droid compares.  There are varying opinions on both phones but I think it depends on your priorities.

FWIW, I had a Touch Pro before moving to the iPhone 3GS and finally landing a Droid.  Of the three Droid is my clear favorite.  Touch Pro 2 is basically a Touch Pro with a larger screen (same resolution, same processor, etc.).

You hear a lot of bad things about the Droid because the people with problems tend to populate the forums with their issues, which is understandable.  Those with positive experiences aren't as vocal.

I've had a great time with my Droid.  There are a few minor software glitches here and there, but call quality remains outstanding, 3G connectivity and consistency is head and shoulders above my iPhone 3GS.  The iPhone 3GS's software  is more polished, but the Droid holds its own in speed (using the same processor as the iPhone 3GS and a much faster processor than the Touch Pro and Touch Pro 2).

The biggest advantage the Droid has is its incredible screen (852x480 resolution vs. iPhone's 480x320 vs. Touch Pro 2's 640x480).  Web pages are easier to navigate without needing frequent zoom in or as much panning.  Android strikes a great balance between WinMo's complexity/configurability and iPhone's simplicity/lack of customization.

Beautiful summary there. Props to you my good sir.

In my area, it's a little opposite, the Droid's 3G speed (When under the same amount of bars, and, right next to each other) is just slightly behind the IPhone's 3GS.

The overall performance from what I have seen and tested is better on the IPhone. Why? Well because yes, they have the same processors, but the Droid is pushing 2x the pixels. And when you are putting that much to process, you need a better processor, at least the iPhone 3GS stays within the limits that it can. The iPhone is much more snappier, but it could be just me noticing the frequent little moments of 'twitchiness' that the Droid does.

But I must admit, navigation around the web on the Droid is absolutely spectacular, and, watching videos is just simply gorgeous.

As far as your TP2 question, here are some things that you should know:

-It's completely pressure sensitive, meaning that you really do need to be a Touch Pro to navigate around.

-It's Windows Mobile, so beware.

-Not as much apps.

I tried a droid ina VZW store the other day. Been looking seriously. Two issues I've seen: 1. Keyboard on the Droid doesn't compare to the TP2, but it depends how much you use it. Not a big deal to me. 2. Droid still does not a way to sync Outlook info from from PC to Droid over USB. All info has to be placed on Google's servers, which I won't do because I don't trust my data to someone who feeds me ads related to the emails I'm sending.. There are some programs in the works which are supposed to solve this, but they aren't out yet. I'm holding off jumping to the Droid til I see if this is fixed. One other thing: People using Exchange servers with are having big problems if the servers enforce security. This is a dealbreaker for big companies. I found a thread on a google site with over 2000 messages requesting that this be fixed.
