We are now awaiting shipment of a FOURTH HTC One M8. First purchased on release day and returned within a week per store suggestion due to roaming bug (fixed with software update later). Second phone randomly turns off, restarts, freezes and doesn't respond. Verizon made us warranty replace this one as it was just past the 14 day mark of the initial purchase (we weren't thrilled). Now the third phone exhibits same behavior as second. Was supposed to get call from Verizon support manager yesterday following up on their insisting that an app was causing it, but she never called like she assured she would. We had removed ALL downloaded apps and still had phone turn off randomly. Verizon now refuses to do anything but send us a reconditioned phone as another replacement. This is the first and last HTC device we will ever try and most likely will begin looking for another carrier as Verizon clearly doesn't care about solving it's customers problems. If they expect me to pay full price for a reconditioned phone they're a joke. I'm awaiting a phone call from someone in management within 24-48 hours to discuss this all further.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this garbage phone!

yeah that phone problem sounds terrible. Not sure if switching carriers is the best idea though...ultimately htc is the one that makes the phone and Verizon just retails it. if you're having network issues though I would understand, if you don't get anywhere with Verizon maybe try giving htc a call? I know I had that same power cycle issue with my galaxy s 3 and it took me forever to figure out which app it was that was doing it. turns out I had auto restore turned on as well, so the second I signed back into my gmail account I had the same issue because the app would auto download right after the factory reset. It was this ridiculous "ninja fishing" game lol. when it comes to androids, any app can do anything it seems. Anyway htc's number is1 (866) 449-8358 if you ever get around to it.

The phone issues are manufacture issues, not Verizon wireless.
You have a warranty which states replaced with certified like new and not brand new.
That is based on HTC and not Verizon.

"You have a warranty which states replaced with certified like new and not brand new."
This would be understandable and acceptable if it was for the fact that since day 1 we've been given broken phones.I refuse to pay full price for something that has been broken since the start.
I've spoken with HTC and received the "this issue hasn't been reported" statement and it pretty much went nowhere. One option was to send the device to HTC and wait for them to figure it out and send it back, but with no backup phone (turned in for credits) to use and my wife using this for work that's not a viable option.

Yep that is a terrible situation. My wife and I have a separate phone on another cell service to use if such an issue should occur.
There may be a warranty center near you so it can be fixed quicker. Check with HTC.
Good Luck
