Can't say I blame you for wanting that post removed, for obvious reasons.  Of course my concern about my account remains up in the air and my questions unanswered.  Oh well.  I guess that's it, then?

Can you give us the gist of the conversation without providing personally identifying information?  What is the issue?  What questions do you have?  This is primarily customer to customer, but perhaps someone has been in or faced a similar situation and can give you some direction?

Hello There,

I'd contacted customer service to ask a couple questions.  One was answered and one was not.  On a prepaid mobile phone account, does sending and receiving picture text messages subtract from my 500 MB monthly allotment.  I was told that no picture messages will subtract from this amount.  And then in the same conversation I was told that as long as I had available data on my account picture messages should go through just fine.  I said that sending and receiving picture messages was not the problem.  The question was whether or not the pictures themselves subtracted from the 500 MB of available data.  I was told conflicting things.  I asked for clarification and the agent logged off.

  Thanks.

Picture messages don't take away from the data allowance, but, as in my case, my son's basic phone has the datablocked.  He cannot send pictures or any other MMS.  It isn't an issue of using any of the allowance, just that if you disable the data feature on a line you can't use a feature that does use even a small amount of data, regardless of if it decreases allowance.  If you turn off a breaker, none of the outlets will work.

Hello Again,

I appreciate the feedback, but I just go off the phone with a Verizon customer service agent.  Each time I send a picture message/MMS message it subtracts from my 500 MB monthly allotment of available data.  And frankly, each time I send a picture message in order to test this theory I can check and see that the my pool of available data has shrunk by a megabyte or so.  So picture messaging is not unlimited.

If u have iphone u have a iphone to have iMessage it uses data but to send a pik it shouldn't take a mega byte it take like 100kb wich is a tenth of a mega byte idk why ur data is disappearing try getting a new iphone im assuming u have a iphone

That is odd. I guess I never actually looked, but I do know that my son could send pictures before I blocked his data (he thought looking at wallpapers and listening to ringtones was free and racked up a $25 data charge 😕  ) and after he cannot. But the month before the data charge he sent pics and I sent him one and there was no charge and no data plan. It warrants looking into, and it doesn't seem that complicated.  Seems like customer service should be able to answer this question. Keep us posted!

One way to test it would be to turn off data and leave wifi on and if the message is sent (and the pic) then you're using some other app which would use data if you weren't using wifi. Still seems weird no one can give a definite answer.
