It is not 2.1, it is either something Motorola or Verizon did that is causing the problems, nor is it the live wallpapers.
The test runs just fine on an AOSP build of 2.1 with live/interactive wallpapers enabled... I'm guessing the problem is some option Motorola chose when compiling the kernel for this build... Probably something in the CPU scheduler.
By the way, the article is NOT saying the phone runs slower after the update, it's saying graphics performance in some games is much slower.
(By the way, you can download the lag test app from http://droid2dperftest.googlecode.com/files/LagTest.apk to test before/after... You will need to set your phone to allow "Unknown Locations" under the Apps menu in settings to install.)

I installed it and it seems to run as fast or faster than before the update....
Battery life is noticale better and I do have live wall paper turned on...
Since all of these "news" cast start from the same source, I think it is total **bleep**....
