Sounds like a scam to me. If and when there's an OS update for your phone it'll be OTA. You can always check in your phone's settings for that.

It's important that you are able to apply any available software updates to your device, hexie45. It is strange that you received an email for a software update. As Heretic1989 has mentioned, you can always check for an available update via your device settings. If you are unsure of how to check this, please provide your device model so we can provide steps.Heretic1989
Normally if you receive an email about an upgrade from Verizon, it's referring to a device purchase offer. You can always contact 800-922-0204 to find out if there are promotional offers available on your account or regarding emails you receive from us.

@Heretic1989 Why would a scam tell you to go to Verizon for info? Maybe a scam if it directed you to some other site but not to Verizon. Verizon's web site does have information on detailed instruction for how to update you phone. It's under the section for device support for your particular device.

There are countless stories, true ones at that, about scammers that have created a website(s) that look just like a company's official website.
And not only that. VZW didn't send me an e-mail informing me of the 24B or 23C updates.
I found out about those two updates by visiting the tech websites that i usually visit. From there, i went into my phone settings to check if it's true.
