Volumn changes on it's own

The volumn on my phone (LG G4) has been changing on it's own. It will go completely on and off or get very loud without me doing anything.  If I try to readjust it manually, the column returns to where it was.  Then, suddenly, I can manipulate the volume manually.  Then the volume will go off and on by itself.  It's like there is a poltergist in the phone.  This mostly happens when playing a game.  When listening to music or watching a video the column behaves itself.

Any suggestions?
