What are SMTP settings for setting up third-party POP3 email account?

I've searched and tried many things, but am having no luck setting up my third-party POP3 email account on my Verizon Andriod phone.

What are the correct SMTP settings to successfully be able to send out mail from this email account?

You need to get the mobile email server settings from the email provider.

They said I would need Verizon's SMTP server settings, since outgoing mail is going out from a Verizon network. Is this incorrect?

I have never used Verizon's SMTP settings for my email addresses.

settings/accounts/email/add account:

enter the login & password, select auto setup & the account will be setup.
