My Galaxy S5 is only 2 weeks old and it began displaying the message ."vzwavservice has stopped working", like everyone else's, since the last update. I feel Verizon should have tested the update before launch and pre-emuted such problems as this. So what are they waiting for? The next update to compound the problem?
Can you tell me how you found the vzwavservice on the galaxy S5? I cannot find it in my applications and want to disable it. I do not want to roll back Google at this point.
Any specifics would be appreciated as it isn't showing up in my application list.
I would really like to know what this service does! 🙂
THE PROMPT, "UNFORTUNATELY, THE VZWAVSService HAS STOPPED." OCCURRED AFTER THE VZW PROTECT PREMIUM APP UPGRADE! (COMPLETELY NEW LOOK AND FUNCTION) AND AFTER THE VZW SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR 3 APPS.
THE ASURION SUPPORT TECH WHOSE COMPANY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE VZW PROTECT APP DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE VZWAVSService's FUNCTION IS.
IT IS MUCH HARDER TO REACH A VZW TECH SUPPORT NOW REGARDLESS IF YOU CALL VZW'S TOLL FREE NUMBER AND ENTER OPTION 3, TECH SUPPORT.
AS I MENTIONED IN MY FIRST MESSAGE, I HAVE NOT NOTICED ANY CHANGES THUS FAR IN THE OPERATION OG MY GALAXY S5 EXCEPT FOR THIS PROMPT EVERY TIME I TURN ON MY PHONE.
I DID GO TO APPLICATIONS MANAGER AND RETURN GOOGLE+ BACK TO DEFAULT SETTINGS AND CHECKED BOX NOT TO ACCEPT ANY UPDATES FOR GOOGLE+. (I HAVE YET TO USE GOOGLE+) BUT WHAT IF I WANT TO JOIN GOOGLE+ AND USE THE APP??? SOMEONE FROM THE COMPANY WHO DEVELOPED THE VZW TOTAL PROTECT PREMIUM AND FREE APPS SHOULD BE ABLE TO ANSWER WHAT VZWAVSService IS/DOES AND HAVE THE FIX TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM.
THAT WOULD BE ASURION INSURANCE WHO HAS THEIR OWN SUPPORT TECHS.
I PAY $10 PER MONTH FOR THEIR VZW TOTAL PROTECT-PREMIUM THAT INCLUDES McAFEE, SUPPORT TECH 6AM TO 11 PM 7 DAYS PER WEEK AS WELL AS INSURANCE FOR MY GALAXY S5.

Open "Applications" in the tools menu, select "Application manager", and at the top scroll across until "All" is highlighted. Scroll down to VZWAVSSERVICE. Select "Force stop", and then "Turn off."
I shut this service off a week ago and have had no effects on my phone. No one on the web seems to know what it does either including some of the big brains on XDA.
It's just more Verizon bloatware...could be some sort of spyware for all I know. Well, it's off and my phone has been business as usual.
My phone is brand new. I haven't even had a week good and now I am getting the "VZWAVSSERVICE has closed" Whats gives Verizon? Brand new product and having to go through this message. No apps added to phone yet, nor anything download to it. Its still a virgin phone and factory set. All the Verizon store did was update everything at the Verizon Store in Carrollton Ga. What kind of crap are you selling us?????? This is a product that you sell and you cant fix the problem, but you Verizon blame it on someone else's software. Then why have their software? Explain me to how to get the "VZWAVSSERVICE has closed" off my phone and not just a quick fix by unchecking something. I want a permanent fix to it this so called bloatware. Do your dang job correctly Verizon. We pay for a service now fix it!!!
Wonder how the Public Service Commission would like to be informed to your problem that even you can't seem to fix????? I am telling you you wont like me if you get me mad! I will raise all sorts of cane at your Verizon office and chase out your customers, plus in addition I will post this all over all the social media's, how you cant fix your dang problem, blame other companies software or utilities for the problem and that is putting it nicely for who is reading this........... Yes all you other Verizon Consumers you have to right to complain to the Public Service Commission too!!! They offer us a service and can't seem to fix it, so complain.... You don't stepped on the wrong toes now Verizon... Fix this problem. My phone is still under the 14 day warranty, fix it or you eat the phone and will continue to go get another one until you fix this "VZWAVSSERVICE has closed" problem! I think you need of all companies need to re-read your Mission Statement. You want our money don't you? The ball is in your court now......
